Giant Non-GMO Watermelon Seeds for Planting

A mid-season variety, the watermelon grows from 6 to 11 lbs (3-6 kg) and boasts a wonderful, delicious, and delicately sweet taste. The flesh is pink, and the seeds vary in color, ranging from buff to orange or brown. The rind is dark green with stripes and mottling, and the watermelon exhibits good resistance to diseases.

For planting instructions, the "paper towel technique" is recommended. To start, tear a paper towel in half and moisten one of the halves. Place four or five seeds on half of the paper and fold the other half over the seeds. Blow open a clear, sandwich-size zip-close bag, and place the paper with seeds inside, then reseal the bag. Set the bag anywhere out of direct sunlight that stays at room temperature. The bag acts like a miniature greenhouse that retains heat and moisture, and you should observe seeds sprouting in about five to seven days.

Next, use a hoe to make mounds that are approximately 2 feet (0.5 m) across the top and 8 to 12 inches (20-30 cm) high. The mounds of loose soil help the roots become established and allow excess water to drain. Level the top of each mound, and use your finger to poke four equally-spaced holes in the leveled-off soil. Deposit one seed in each hole and lightly rake the soil to cover the seeds, being careful not to disturb them. Pack the soil lightly to keep the seeds from drying out too quickly when they are watered.
